Brocade FastIron WS Series and Edge X Series network switches will replace existing
equipment to update classroom labs and improve network infrastructure
PROVO,
UT—Jan. 19, 2010— Red Sky IT Solutions,
premier IT provider and the nation’s #1 integrator of Brocade products,
today announced a donation of $110,000 worth of Brocade FastIron WS
Series and Edge X Series network switches to Brigham Young University’s
Fulton College of Engineering and Technology. The community is invited
to a presentation ceremony and reception at the College on Thursday,
January 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“We are honored and
grateful to Red Sky for this tremendous donation,” said Joe Eckstrom,
associate professor at BYU. “This cutting-edge technology will
substantially improve the performance of our network and having fast
and reliable equipment will enhance the learning experience for our
students.”
The network switches will replace outdated
equipment in the classroom labs and within the College’s network
infrastructure. The Brocade FastIron WS Series switches are entry-level
enterprise campus switches that provide cost-effective connectivity,
PoE for VoIP, and a rich feature set for optimizing the network’s
performance. The Brocade FastIron Edge X Series switches are
high-performance data center-class switches that provide Gigabit copper
and fiber-optic connectivity and 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks.
“In
addition to providing needed equipment for the College, we wanted
students to experience the impact of working with top-of-the-line
products,” said John Legge, Red Sky VP of Sales. “We are pleased to
offer Brocade products, and we appreciate their role in this endeavor.”
The donation of Brocade networking equipment is the first of
several initiatives in Red Sky’s support for BYU. The company is
working with BYU to create a fellowship program for the College as well
beginning Fall 2010.
